- Monmouth Guardian and Bargoed and Caerphilly Observer 17/04/1914: The Surveyor re- ported that the committee of the Workmen's Institute at Abertysswg were willing to give the use of the surgery portion of the old building to be used as a fire station for a rental of £5 5s. It was decided to accept this.
